Alan – a craftsman watch and clockmaker – was born in Truroand went to Redruth Grammar School.
On leaving school he started in the jewellery trade as an apprentice to J Pearson and Son, in Boscawen
Street, Truro. From 1976 he managed then became the proprietor of Gudridge and Son Jewellers of
Perranporth. then opened Alan Johns Jewellers in Truro.
In 1984 Alan studied in Japan and Switzerland as a Churchill Fellow. He is a Fellow of the British Horological
Institute and until retirement, a Fellow of the Institute of Registered Valuers and member of the National
Association of Goldsmiths.
Alan and Olive Johns have now retired from the retail shop, so now have many bargains for sale.
